What is Near Infrared Light Therapy?

Near infrared therapy is based on two processes, the first being Photobiomodulation, which means the effect of light on living organisms. The second is the heat or the process of Hyperthermia.  Raising body temperature assists the body in killing bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses. Most of us have a body temperature which is too low and this is why chronic infections can be hard to resolve.  Near infrared provides wavelengths between 700-1400nm in the electromagnetic light spectrum, these actually replicate the wavelengths of the sun. Scientists have shown that we are beings of light and our cell receptors absorb light.  Once absorbed, this triggers a complex cascade of chemical and physical reactions within the cell, prompting numerous benefits in the body. The infrared lamps penetrate between 5-10cm into tissue prompting a response and a deeper sweat compared to other methods such as sweat from running or intense exercise. This enables toxins to be drawn out without putting stress on elimination organs.

Why Portable Infrared Units?

These units are ideal if you want the convenience of infrared therapy at home without having to install a whole sauna cabin. 
They are made from a timber wood frame with untreated cladding at the front and ceramic lamp stems with 4 x infrared incandescent bulbs. No solvents, glues or varnishes are used so there is no off-gassing and are low EMF.  You can add an optional timer plug adaptor to set your session at 15 or 30 minutes.  How you use your infrared unit is up to you, sit on a stool or lay next to it, hang it on a door with the rope handle (an over-the-door hook is ideal for this) or simply use a bean bag to sit next to it.
